One of the Many Reasons I Love Colorado

This is one of the many reasons I love Colorado. This was probably the most awesome display of color we have seen on treks through the Rockies. It was just phenomenal and we were so fortunate to catch it at peak this year. It was such a perfect mix of color....... I couldn't have asked for better. This was taken at Kebler Pass.......one of my favorite places in Colorado.

Did you enhance the colors in this photo? It's hard to believe that much intensity is totally natural.

Heather: I have to confess I did heighten the contrast a bit to bring the trees out a bit more, but honestly.....these hills really do look like this when the color is at peak. The new panoramic on the blog's homepage is that same place with no enhancements at all. Pretty cool!

I was going to ask about your new header picture. Beautiful, for sure :)

Oh.... My ... G-d!!!

And I love the new masthead panorama.

I had to do some similare tweaking of contrast when I was out there because we were past peak -- but honestly, as I was reading Galen Rowell's book "Mountain Light" ... he said part of what your after is to reproduce what YOU saw -- and that includes what your mind interpreted. Often, you look at what you got on the camera and you think "that's not what I saw" ... and it isn't. So I have no problem adjusting it during "processing" (such that "processing" is these days) to show the viewer what your experience was.

Yes, it really is hard to believe -- unless you've been there. :-)
